Meet Dr. Russo-Appel
In a career that has spanned over three decades, Dr. Maria Russo-Appel has worked in most areas of psychiatry including inpatient care, various outpatient settings, addiction medicine and with the medically ill. She is a board-certified adult psychiatrist and her specialty areas include the pharmacological management of mood and anxiety disorders such as depression, bipolar disorder, panic disorder, OCD and generalized anxiety disorder.
She attended college at Mount Holyoke College where she majored in English and minored in Chemistry. She earned her medical degree from Mount Sinai School of Medicine in New York City and completed her residency at Mount Sinai Medical Center also in NYC.
While Dr. Russo-Appel spent most of her career in Massachusetts, she relocated to Southern CT in 2024. She looks forward to providing a diagnostic assessment and medication management to those in her local community who require expert care.
